 ROSES - THE HEART CENTER

Roses have this ability to calm and center the hurried soul. Roses speak of love and comfort and healing. It's why we use roses in all of our Bespoke Skincare Products. Roses are in our Serums, Balm and Mask.

Roses are timeless. They are exquisite. They are healing. They soothe the soul. Roses are one of the most ancient flowers and have been the symbol of love for centuries, but did you know that rose petal, rosehip oil, and rose oil have been used in beauty practices for generations?  

We formulate our bespoke Rose + Rose Day Serum and Hibiscus + Rose Beauty Mask using the organically grown roses from the rose garden at our farm. 

"According to legend, a cultivated form of Rosa gallica - traveled from Syria via Damascus to Franche, where it was dubbed the Rose of Provins. It was the medicinal and fragrant properties of Rosa gallica that accounted for the spread of that rose across Europe. 

In England, the medicinal use of this same pinkish-red rose led it to being dubbed the Apothecary's rose.

That the rose has nutritious properties is not even a matter to dispute. The rose was a food source thousands of years ago - rose seed was found among the remains of Neolithic women unearthed in Britain - and in the seventeenth century, botanist and herbalist John Gerard was promoting the use of rose hips as a culinary flavoring. 

It was in the 1930s that's rose hips were found to contain more vitamin C than any other fruit or vegetable - 20 times more than the same weight of oranges. 

The essential oil from rose petals was believed to have medicinal properties, and it was used in massage oils - and later, aromatherapy - to aid circulation and cleanse the blood. Aromatherapists use roses to create a sense of harmony, and it is used as an emollient in skin-care products. It takes approximately 8800 pounds of petals are required to produce 2.2 pounds of pure rose oil thus the costliness of rose oil (absolute).
