I wrote You Are My Hiding Place in 1980. With Bible opened up to Psalm 32 and guitar in hand, I started to work the words into a melody and in about 15 minutes it was finished. I didn't know back then that it would travel the world. I know now that it was never really “mine” to begin with (remember, I just “caught” a melody that God gave to me). As the Psalmist expressed:
“The Lord is my strength and my shield, my heart trusted in him and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song will I praise Him.” - Psalm 28:7
